Armed with yarns and needles, KNITTA PLEASE does urban tagging like no other. Knit graffiti began with Magda Sayeg, a self-taught knitter out of Houston Texas. It started with a doorknob cosy for the front door of Sayeg’s Houston boutique which inspired her to make more. The name of the group has it’s obvious thuggish reference. Though the group’s membership blew-up to twelve members and internationally there were an estimated five to twelve copycat groups. However, membership in Knitta eventually dwindled, leaving only the founder. Some former member names include Knotorious N.I.T., SonOfaStitch and P-Knitty. Hook up to KNITTA PLEASE to see what Magda is tagging next.
